i took a break from blogging/catching up on reading blogs because school has been intense and i was bombarded with stress and the realization that i have no free time. as much as i love it, blogspot really forces you to organize and accumulate images more tediously than sites like tumblr that just requires a simple reblog.
me mucking with talking robots when i should have been painting
anyways here are some drawings i did in february/march
i've had little time to draw-plus all my studio courses are creatively draining-so in the meantime i have been watching different animations to get some inspiration. one of my favourites ever is asparagus by suzan pitt
it's an eerie and dreamy depiction of a woman who lives in a stuffed and crowded house and who goes out to the theatres which opens a world of flying flowers and swirls. i'm in awe of everything from the colour, the drawings the spooky music (since there is no spoken dialogue). if you haven't seen it really recommend watching it!!! it's fairly short but every second is stuffed with beautiful imagery.
#UGHARTGOALZ
speaking of art goals... i received kendra's brilliant zine last week and can't stop weeping over how perfect it is!!!!
i also went to the national art gallery two weeks ago to work on my sculpture assignment. my professor wanted us to go to the gallery and pick out a sculpture or installation and sketch it from different angles and analyse it and state why we like it or hate it
i chose Bedroom Ensemble by Claes Oldenburg because he's one of my favourite artists and because his installation rooms have always appealed to my natural love of architecture and weird furniture. here are some messy skecthes i did.
since we're talking about architecture i thought i would compile a list of some of my "i wish i could live here" buildings/homes and living spaces
wowow this post is sort of jittery sorry. uh some really fun news.. on monday i'm going to montreal for the day to see my favourite australian babes, tame impala!!!! the growl are opening for them and i'm super stoked because i feel like i could fit right into their whole "crying boys in stripes aesthetic"
really good tune. REALLY GOOD.
and last, i did an interview with eryn of Fashion Fledge which you should check out because she's great and asked really fun questions and i was flattered that anyone would ever want an interview with me!!!
anyway thanks for reading, and expect a post after my montreal, tame impala/growl adventures
xoxoox

I LOVE your drawings as always and ugh ugh ugh I wanna live in those houses! Especially that little pink one in the middle of nowhere. (also so jealous you're seeing tame impala and the growl)

ReplyDeleteas usual your posts are a inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteCan we please note that everything in this post is so splendiferous. A moment of reflection for that. And that animation is blindingly good.
ReplyDeleteYour interview was fantastic (I just bookmarked it coz SO MUCH INSPIRATION) and I may have had a mild conniption at the fact that you want to be in Australia :') If you ever come we could totally hang out or something. I mean...um whoops that wasn't stalkery at all.
Your drawings are lovely!

HA, that slide is hilarious - do you happen to know where in the world it is?
ReplyDeleteif you click through it leads to the flickr page and the person who uploaded it wrote "Found in the park next to the Chamber of Commerce of Toba. Local middle school students were playing in the slide." v neat and weird!!!
