Here We Go

diary entry from today. the weather has been horrible and  i feel like an old lady (what else is new?)
hi again it's me. i know i've been gone for a while ugh ugh i'm sorry. i'm so behind on reading everyone's blogs and commenting and i feel like poop for that (but this weekend i shall lurk on ALL OF YOUR BLOGS HEH)

so this post is going to be a bit lengthy just to warn you! these past few weeks have been filled with art projects, travelling and reading zines/art books!

let's start with Christopher Owens *swoons* *cries* *sobs*
so a few weeks ago my friend Monica and i went to see Christopher Owens (and company) in Montreal. the show was magnificent- i can't even explain it really. the crowd was tiny and everyone was quiet and eagerly listening to every single precious note of Lysandre.

here are some great photos from the show (click through for source)

the next day Monica and I went shopping with our friend Fatine who took these lovely photos and showed us around the beautiful city (click through for Fatine's blog, she's an amazing photographer)

we started the day off at this cute little café/bakery

don't worry i was wondering why there were xmas lights still up also (and they were selling xmas cakes?)

drool drool droooooooooooool

then we went to a place called Monastiraki which was hands down the coolest shop i have ever been to... EVER. it was filled with trinkets, patches, stickers, vintage magazines, buttons, knick knacks, statues, street signs, zines, postcards, found photos... you name it, they probably had it!

monica looking through old postcards

aw it was such a fun weekend, it pains me to write this knowing that i have to endure another day at school tomorrow. wah i want to live in montreal.
anywho here are some things i've collected over the past few weeks

Sonic Youth bio and a Gustav Klimt book from my friend Justin
a found love note from a bookstore in montreal
the back of it says, "My dearest Love, Just writing you a happy xmas and a prosperous new year, I am writing you a letter tomorrow and will post it at the same time as this, your loving husband Harry xxxxxxxx"
zine from Monastiraki

a zine from Monastiraki
zine about grandmothers from Monastiraki (SO CUTE UGH)

once again, from Monastiraki!

i also thrifted a really neat book about old dolls (mainly from Germany) and i'm going to scan a few pages this week and upload them!

i'm also in a painting class at the moment and our second assignment was to use a source image to create an abstract piece that imitates the different colours and forms in the original composition

i chose to use this picture of Soo Catwoman because she looks fabulous duh

and here's my painting studio!

the next assignment is to create a landscape piece that incorporates depth and so of course the neighbourhood in Edward Scissorhands was the first interesting landscape that came to mind (even though it isn't a traditional landscape)

anyway that's about it for now! thanks for sticking around,

infinite hugs and kisses for you!
