hi! i finished a mini zine this week and since i won't be selling them for a few weeks (since i need some time to buy a p.o box and open up a shop) i thought i'd share a look inside.

i'm a lazy loaf of bread when it comes to making these posts. lots of things have been sulking through my goopy brain recently like, "wow i'm done first year...now what ...what do i do next year... i'm not an artist...why can't i just make a piece where i get to sleep... frick you tilda swinton"

i've been trying my best though to get out of my house and explore downtown or read outside. i have four months that i need to savour like a real life wonka gobstopper and not the hollywood/film ones.

i want to do little things this summer like build a terranium, add lace to my socks, open my etsy store, start an all girl band, drink water with cucumbers in it (baby steps folks), paint my nails so that they match my mood- chartreuse?

i want to start writing in  my dream diary but that requires having more dreams that i can remember. last night i dreamt that i hopped onto a double decker bus and got to ride for free because i told the bus driver that i was an orphan. the bus driver was an orphan as well- by coincidence no less. cut to a dingy room with a black leather sofa where kurt vile is talking between his set and insults my nameless enemy (probably because my enemy was wearing a fedora). my enemy can't take a joke and storms out. later kurt vile and i are cuddling and i'm playing with his long locks the end. 

it's funny how after you dream about someone you feel like there's this intangible intimacy lingering everywhere

today i decided since i haven't had a proper hair cut in a bit it was time for a change- edna mode style

later i had work which was boring and crowded and loud per usual (i work in an arcade place)

after work, my family and i went out to look at some tulips and grab some ice cream. i saw lots of happy people which proves that my theory is correct. flowers + people= happy people

also value village was having a 50% off sale this week so i popped in and swiped up some beautiful finds.

surprisingly all the pages were balnk which actually made me sad because i would love to read about the lives of the previous owners

i also did a little but of mini-zining and made one booklet focused on colour and composition and the other one i'm working on is more based on comics and my diary entries/thoughts

finally, a few weeks ago i watched palindromes and i can easily say it's one of my favourite films to date. todd solondz creates the perfect sequel to Welcome to the Dollhouse by focusing on darker aspects of the Weiner family. there was always something about Welcome to the Dollhouse that had me holding my breath, waiting for something really bad to happen. Palindromes made me fall into a fit of hiccups (if anything) and gave me lots to process long after the film was over.

i've had this post set up for about an hour and i still have no idea what to write. school's finished and i think that it drained me of my ability to write. it's been a lil over a month since my last post (okay more like 2 but shhh) and during that time i've made some art for school, rediscovered some old obsessions and day dreamed about cuties.

speaking of cuties.. a few weeks ago deerhunter played their new song Monomania on jimmy fallon and it was an explosion of awesome sauce. i was honestly obsessed with this performance and have probably watched it at least twenty times by now. basically bradford is dressed up as some pseudo joey ramone zombie angel from heaven + he's sporting a very convincing wound on his left hand (in an interview he said his dad cut off his finger like a day before they played fallon so it was cox's way of paying homage to him. to be honest i would have accepted "because it looks fucking cool!!!!" as a reason for it)

i've also become pretty obsessed with animal/bug jelwery

spider bracelet from a local boutique and apparently it was made in quebec by an old man and his wife who cast tons of insect moulds for making jelwery how cool right? and beside it there's a unicorn bracelet i thrifted!

the past few weeks were spent working on my final sculpture project. the assignment was to make some sort of extension of the body (very very vague i know). my prof showed us works by nick cave, liz margor, antony gormley and a few artists that worked with that theme

i thought it would be interesting to create an extension of the body using sculpture and photo pieces that i've made in other assignments during my first year. i decided to recreate this photo i made in my photography class first semester and use the table i already built in sculpture for one of the first projects and build a chair that would take the place of myself in the photo. it sort of plays around with different forms of reality + the contrast of black and white in the photo and the explosion of colours in the installation was a really fun form of juxtaposition to experiment with!

finished! everything but the sweater is made from scratch. the body/sweater piece is made out of a wood cube (it was terrifying to work in the woodshop!!!!) and plaster, coated and mixed with acrylic paint

this was my hair pretty much every day last week when i had to study for my exams and write my research paper

i guess i'll end with a bit of nostalgia. i used to be completely in love with the avalanches and their strange music videos. a few days ago i was going through some of my old old old youtube favourites and found this and got really excited and made a ton of screen caps of "frontier psychiatrist" so enjoy
